SGP Doesn't Reset State After Error Correction?

After responding to SGP error message that it could not connect to “No observatory” by setting Observatory to Simulator and then trying Run Sequence again, SGP reports that it is slewing the telescope and then it reports that it is integrating the target (taking the exposure). However, the telescope has actually never moved and the image is blank.
Of course, I do not know what is happening internally, I only know the outward behavior and results, but it appears that when a condition that SGP assesses to be an error is corrected, other subsequent behavior (events) are still affected and do not occur correctly. This is unexpected. If an error state persists, then I would expect a further error message to be generated so that the user does not incorrectly assume, based on lack of any indication to the contrary, that the system is now in a corrected state and will therefore behave as specified.
Otherwise what should be the correct user response to an error? Is it required that the user abandon the sequence, exit the program, and restart SGP? That should be sufficient, but is it necessary, and if so, in what cases?
